Google Page Experience: An Important New SEO Update

For once, Google is forewarning us about coming changes to their top-secret Google algorithm. According to digital marketing genius, Neil Patel, by 2021, the User Experience of an individual page will have more impact on your SEO than that of your overall website.
What is “Page Experience?”
According to Google “The page experience signal measures aspects of how users perceive the experience of interacting with a web page. Optimizing for these factors makes the web more delightful for users across all web browsers and surfaces, and helps sites evolve towards user expectations on mobile. We believe this will contribute to business success on the web as users grow more engaged and can transact with less friction.”
In other words, rather than docking SEO points from an entire website because of a few pages with “poor experience,” Google is starting to place more value on page-level SEO. While this still ties in with the overall look and feel of your business’ website, it’s a sigh of relief for those that have a few messy pages dragging the rest of the company website down.
Another Step Towards True User Experience and a Mobile-First Internet
The new Google Algorithm will take into account the overall flow of your company’s website. This means that pesky pop-ups, pages that are buried too many clicks away from the homepage, and buttons that are too small to click with your finger, for example, are all minor annoyances that can lead to serious issues like poor customer experience or an abandoned shopping cart.
For businesses that are still focusing on desktop, this will also be a rude awakening to some of the final stages towards a mobile-first Internet. Google has long valued this aspect of SEO, but in the coming years, it will be putting a nail in the coffin for companies with a poor mobile UX.
Google doesn’t often dole out a forewarning when it comes to algorithm updates, even ones that have a large impact. Now is the opportunity to take action by making the necessary changes to your website.
